As a doctor with a busy private practice and a father to three young children, Dr Loke is on the road often -- shuttling between the two branches of the Mediline Wei Min Clinic which he owns with two other partners, responding to medical house calls or shuttling his children to and from classes.

“My days are planned in blocks, and the interactive map helps me make accurate time allocation for each activity”, says Dr Loke. Citing an example of what he does in a day -- Dr Loke picks his son from school and drops him home around noon. After checking the traffic condition on the interactive map, he knows that he only needs to allocate 30 minutes or less to reach his next destination. The interactive map has therefore helped him to better manage the timing of appointments after that.

One of Dr Loke’s most frequently travelled routes is the one between his Serangoon and Marine Parade clinics. According to Dr Loke, the interactive map has helped him make an informed travel decision on which route he should travel on. Running the interactive map on his iPad, he decides whether he should go via Paya Lebar or the CTE/PIE route. If the map shows that traffic speeds on the expressways are slow or if there is a traffic incident, he will make a diversion to go by the major roads along Paya Lebar, thus avoiding traffic congestion and reach his destination on time.

The interactive map also comes in handy when Dr Loke makes medical house calls. He only makes house calls for regular patients and stresses how critical it is to make it to the patient’s place in the shortest possible time as the patient may be seriously sick and needs urgent medical attention. In order to choose the most direct and fastest route, Dr Loke uses the interactive map to check the traffic conditions and ONE.MOTORING’s travel time calculator to estimate the travelling time needed to get there.

So convinced he is of the interactive map’s usefulness that Dr Loke is recommending it to all his doctor friends who make regular shuttles between clinics or medical house calls. “In some cases, it may be better to ask another doctor to attend to the patient if he or she is able to reach the patient’s house within a shorter time”, says Dr Loke.

Dr Loke became an avid user of ONE.MOTORING’s interactive map two years ago. He has been a ONE.MOTORING user for a long time but as a car owner, it was mainly for Land Transport Authority’s e-Services. For example, he renews his road tax online after renewing his motor insurance via the online channel too. He finds this e-Service a useful and convenient way for motorists to renew their road tax.

Besides work, Dr Loke and his family also accesses the interactive map for leisure purposes. He leaves the interactive map running on his Apple iMac, placed strategically in the living room and near the main door, so that he or his wife can check the road conditions on the way out of the house with the kids who are aged 10, eight and three-years-old.

According to Dr Loke, the best thing about the interactive map is that it works well on multiple platforms and the information is real-time. “It is useful to motorists and certainly something I cannot do without”, he affirms.
