A. Transfer of Vehicle at the Premises of an Electronic Service Agent (ESA)
Duly completed and signed transfer form (with company stamp, if the vehicle is company-registered)
Identification documents of the registered owner and buyer for verification by the ESA.
For individual:
  • NRIC (for Singaporean, Singapore PR and Malaysian) or Passport (foreigner other than Malaysian).
For company:
  • ACRA printout valid up to 14 days from date of issue of ACRA;
  • Original NRIC or Passport (foreigner other than Malaysian) of the Director/Sole-proprietor/Partner whose name is shown on ACRA printout; or
  • Original NRIC or Passport (foreigner other than Malaysian) of the Manager who is authorized by the Director/Sole-proprietor/Partner to sign the application form. The authorisation letter from the said Director/Sole-proprietor/Partner must also be produced.
Original motor insurance certificate in buyer's name. Please ensure that the insurance policy of the motor vehicle is already in force on the transfer date and covers the full period of the vehicle's road tax.
Original and valid vehicle inspection certificate, if vehicle inspection is required prior to the renewal of road tax
Original Vehicle Parking Certificate in the buyer's name, which is already in force on the transfer date and covers the full period of valid road tax, if the vehicle is a goods vehicle with maximum laden weight (MLW) exceeding 5,000kg, or a bus with seating capacity exceeding 15 passengers, or a trailer with MLW exceeding 5,000kg, or a mobile crane and recovery vehicle with unladen weight (ULW) exceeding 2,500kg.
If the vehicle is a light goods vehicle (LGV)* or small bus with a seating capacity of not more than 9 persons (excluding driver), the buyer must submit proof of business that includes the following:

  • For business or company, the original instant printout issued by the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) valid up to 14 days from the date of issue; or
  • For hawker or farmer, the original hawker's licence issued by NEA (National Environment Agency) or the original farm licence issued by AVA (Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority

*Good vehicles with MLW not exceeding 3 metric tonnes if the LGV was registered with a COE issued before 1 March 1998; or MLW not exceeding 3.5 metric tonnes if it was registered with a COE issued from 1 March 1998
Transaction PIN, which the registered owner must key in to authorize the transaction.
B. Transfer of Vehicle at LTA
Duly completed and signed transfer form (with company stamp, if the vehicle is company-registered)

Original motor insurance certificate in buyer's name. Please ensure that the insurance policy of the motor vehicle is already in force on the transfer date and covers the full period of the vehicle's road tax.
Original and valid vehicle inspection certificate, if vehicle inspection is required prior to the renewal of road tax

NOTE:

  1. The new owner is advised to check the age, chassis numbers of the vehicle and other particulars to ensure that they tally with LTA's system records. The owner is also responsible to ensure that the road tax and motor insurance of the vehicle remain valid at all times.

  1. The statutory age limit for goods vehicle and buses is 20 years. For taxis, private hire cars and converted private hire cars which were registered using COEs issued before 1 April 1998, the statutory age limit is 7 years. Otherwise, it is 10 years if they were registered using COEs issued from 1 April 1998.

  1. The new owner of a Light Goods Vehicles (generally vehicles bearing index series starting with 'G') and small buses with 9 passengers or less (excluding driver) must display the registered owner's name, business address, business/company registration number, passenger capacity and any other additional information as the Registrar may require on both sides of the vehicle within 7 calendar days from the vehicle's registration in his/his company's name.

  1. Within 7 days of a sale or change in possession of the vehicle, the current registered owner or the person/company taking possession of the vehicle must effect a transfer of vehicle. It is an offence not to do so.
