You do not need to bid for a COE for COE renewal. To renew the COE for your existing vehicle for another 10 years, pay the Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP). To renew the COE for another 5 years, pay 50% of the PQP
- If you wish to keep your vehicle registered beyond its current COE expiry date, you will need to renew the COE by paying the applicable PQP for your vehicle. If the COE is not renewed by the current COE expiry date, the vehicle will be de-registered.
- The PQP is the moving average of the COE prices (QPs) in the last 3 months. The PQP varies from month to month. Click here for the PQP rates.
- If the application for renewal of COE is made in the month of the COE expiry or after the COE expiry date (within the 1-month grace period with payment of late fees), the PQP rate for the month of COE expiry shall be payable. Upon renewal, the new COE will commence on the next day after the current COE expiry date. If the COE renewal is made prior to the current COE expiry month, the PQP payable shall be the rate applicable at the point of the renewal of the COE. Upon renewal, the new COE will commence from the 1st of the following month from the PQP month and the balance of the current COE will be forfeited.
- Upon the COE renewal, any COE rebate arising from any lay-up period during the COE validity period will be forfeited.
COE renewal period
At the end of the 10-year COE period, vehicle owners may choose to deregister their vehicle or to revalidate their COEs for another 10-year period by paying the applicable PQP or for 5-year period by paying half the PQP (round up to the next dollar). For vehicles without statutory lifespan (such as motorcycles and cars), there is no limit to how many times you can renew the COE so long as the COE is renewed for 10 years.
For 5-Year COE Renewal
1) Category C vehicles with 5-year COE that had expired before 25 Feb 2013, and Categories A, B and D vehicles:
The 5-year COE is non-renewable. You must deregister the vehicle upon the expiry of the 5-year COE.
2) Category C vehicles with 5-year COE that is expiring on or after 25 Feb 2013:
A 5-year Category C COE that is expiring on or after 25 Feb 2013 is renewable. However, all renewals can only be for a 5-year period, subject to the vehicle's statutory lifespan.

Requires a valid Internet Banking Account with Citibank, DBS/POSB, OCBC/Plus! or UOB. For successful deduction of the Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP), please make sure that there is adequate fund in the account and the payment amount is within the daily internet payment limit set by the bank.
By Post (at least two weeks before the COE expiry date)
Make sure that the application form and payment, reach the Land Transport Authority before the end of the month in which the PQP is applicable.
Please note that proof of posting is not proof of receipt.
For renewal by post, the application date shall be the date LTA received the application. Depending on which is earlier, the PQP payable will be the rate applicable on the application date or on the COE expiry date.

The PQP can be paid by cheque, cash or cashier's order. If the payment does not exceed the daily transaction limit set by the bank, you may pay the PQP by Diners Club Card or NETS. If payment is made by cheque, the COE will only be renewed upon the clearance of the cheque. If the cheque is dishonoured, the renewal application will be cancelled, and a $20 (before GST) administrative fee will be imposed for processing the dishonoured cheque and cancellation of the COE renewal application.
After COE Expiry (within 1 month from the expiry date of the COE):
If the current COE has expired, only cash, cashier's order or NETS (if the payment does not exceed the daily transaction limit set by the bank) can be accepted, and subject to payment of the applicable late payment fee(s).
