As part of the package of measures to gradually reduce the tax burden on vehicle ownership, the Government had reduced the road tax rates of various vehicle types by 8% and 15% in September 2007 and July 2008 respectively.
Along with this reduction, the special tax for Euro-IV diesel cars was also revised from four times the vehicle's road tax previously to $1.25 per cc of its engine capacity. This rate is subject to a minimum annual payment of $1,250.
The reduction in road tax and special tax have helped vehicle owners to reduce their ownership costs, and fleet owners/ businesses to lower their operational costs.
