When it comes to paint protection, the market is full of products and services that claim to be the best way to get your vehicle to look as good as the day it rolled out from the showroom. Knowing a few useful facts can help separate myth from truth...

The majority of products in the market are based on polishing and waxing agents. These solutions might come with visible results, but they can actually cause damage to your paintwork in the long term.

The reason for this lies mainly in the fact that a polish works by removing a few microns (1micron = 0.001mm) of your vehicle's paint to reveal a new, fresh layer which looks good because it has not yet oxidised. Left unprotected, it won't take long for this new layer to dull within days.

Some other companies offer waxing as a solution to protect recently polished or new paintwork from fading but this does not provide a lasting solution as well because all waxes have a melting point.

In Singapore's tropical weather where temperatures can reach as high as 40ºC, it doesn't take a genius to figure that this, combined with high engine temperatures can melt away even the hardest of waxes. Add the occasional sudden downpour to the equation and its easy to see why even the best waxes cannot last for more than a few weeks.

To withstand these extreme conditions, a proper paint protection system needs to be able to 'lock' onto the microscopic pores found on every painted surface.

Crystalline Teflon is one such synthetic material that is known to have these 'locking' properties and is a key ingredient in CSII Teflon Paint Sealant. Essentially similar to the smooth, non-stick surfaces of high-tech frying pans and irons, Teflon has an incredible tolerance of heat and resistance to corrosion.

Likewise, CSII Teflon Paint sealant can extend the life of your vehicle's paintwork by protecting it from UV radiation, industrial fallout, etching, acid rain and just about anything else that can harm the paint's natural lustre.
