XR Window Visors

The window visors came in tinted black, which matched most of the car colours available for the Toyota Wish. The finishing quality of the visors was good: no sharp edges could be felt and the 3MTM double-sided tapes used were of good quality (very sticky indeed!). Installation was straightforward and easy as the instruction guides were included.

The visors fitted both the pre-facelift (above left) and face-lifted (above right) Toyota Wish. One issue noted was that the rear visors were quite long and if you were to align them with the top edge of the rear door frame, the visors would protrude at the ends. I found the best position by lowering it below the upper edge by about 15mm.

I highly recommend a "fitting-out" by aligning both the front and rear visors to confirm the final position before peeling off the liner from the adhesive tapes. Otherwise you may have to yank off and re-position the visors, which would weaken the adhesive strength of the tapes. Be warned!
Maxdax's visors were really unique. The word "WISH" was embossed on the front visors (above left: pre-facelifted; above right: face-lifted), which I thought was really nice. I have not seen any other Wish visors in the market that come with embossment.

Aesthetically, window visors do enhance the looks of the car but they have their practical uses as well. Due to our climate, the interior of the car gets heated up easily on hot days. Some car owners would leave a small gap in the window to allow hot air to escape and the door visors can hide the gap from prying eyes. They can also prevent raindrops from entering through the same gap when it pours.

Mud Guards

I had mud guards installed in my previous car (Toyota Vios) and they proved to be quite useful, especially when driving in the rain or through dirty, muddy roads.

As I have installed a bodykit on my Wish, I could not fit the mud guards on my car whereas they fitted perfectly on my colleague's stock-conditioned, face-lifted Wish. Potential buyers should take note of this.

The installation was also very straightforward as the instruction guides were included and it took less than an hour's work. The self-tapping screws and washers were supplied so installation was relatively easy for those who like to DIY. If not, any car workshop can do it for a fee.
With the mud guards installed, less dirt and grime will get lodged onto the sides and undercarriage, especially those areas directly behind the wheels, so you spend less time washing the car. Pretty useful for people who dread washing their cars - like me.

Personally, I would have liked the outer (but not the inner) surface of the mud guard to come in a matching (car) colour. The inner surface could retain its present look, reason being the dirt and grime hitting onto this surface would cause the paint to be worn off pretty quickly.

Also, be careful when doing reverse parking as the concrete kerbs may be too high, thus scratching and damaging the rear mud guards. However, don't be too worried as the material is flexible and the tightened screws would prevent them from falling off.

Final evaluation

Both products reviewed are practical accessories that car owners would find very useful. Prices for both products are affordable, though there may be cheaper alternatives in the market.

What I really like about the products was that clear instruction guides were included so buyers have the option of DIY installation instead of having to pay someone else to do the job.
