Agis Develops Real Time Location Service for Savvy Mobile Phone Users
Agis Pte Ltd, a Singapore local software developer, has developed its own mobile phone street directory called NAVFONE, which can be used on mobile phones using the Symbian Operating System (OS).
Relieving people the hassle of flipping through the street directory, NAVFONE is a software that turns the mobile phone into a powerful location finder. Upon activation, it works like a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver. Even in an enclosed building, the software works to an accuracy of 50 to 200 metres, depending on the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network.
In a mobile phone, the NAVFONE software can find out the real-time exact location ("Where Am I?"), the different types of services and locations such as petrol stations, MRT stations, eateries, etc around them ("What's Nearby?") and even book a Comfort taxi ("Book A Taxi Here")

NAVFONE offers mobile phone users a comprehensive map of Singapore, in just 4 MB of memory, location-based information such as street names, names of food outlets, points of interest, shopping centres and entertainment spots.

Working with Comfort Transportation and Yellow -Top Cab, which has the largest fleet of taxis in Singapore, NAVFONE provides users with a new automated method of booking taxi. By selecting the location on the map and the option "Book A Taxi Here", the information will be transmitted to Comfort's Customer Contact Centre, and a Comfort taxi will be despatched to the exact location quickly and efficiently.
NAVFONE, which costs $29.90, will be available at selected outlets at Sim Lim Square and designated hotels, as well as its website - www.agis.com.
