Based on Peugeot's platform one, which it shares with the 1007, the 207 is due to replace the 206 soon. Besides its unique appearance of curves and contours, it introduces innovative features such as static directional headlamps and an in-car fragrance diffuser.

A total of six airbags come as standard and the 207 also borrows big brother 407's dual front impact absorption structures-designed to meet requirements of the new European directive concerning pedestrian impact protection.

This Peugeot will see many future developments over the coming years, including innovations in terms of high-tech engines and equipment (Stop and Start), new body styles, etc. It will also be the first Peugeot to use engines engines developed as part of the partnership between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the BMW Group.
