Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) is an electronic system of road pricing. It uses a dedicated short-range radio communication system to deduct ERP charges from smart-cards inserted in the in-vehicle units of vehicles each time they pass a pricing point when the system is in operation. The pay-when-you-use principle helps make motorist more aware of the true cost of driving. This way, road usage can be optimised.

Switchover of ERP Gantries at Woodsville InterchangeWith the opening of the Woodsville Interchange (WVT), LTA will reinstate the ERP gantry along Bendemeer Road to its original position about 100 meters upstream from its current location. As an alternative route leading towards the city centre, a new gantry situated at the exit of the new WVT tunnel towards Bendemeer Road will also be in operation. This new gantry serves the same function as the Bendemeer Road ERP gantry, to manage traffic on the radial roads leading towards the city centre. The gantry will have the same prevailing ERP charges and operating hours as the existing Bendemeer Road ERP gantry. The gantry was already announced on 12 Oct 2011 as part of the news release on closing the construction activities for the Woodsville Interchange upgrading project.
With the switchover of the Bendemeer Road ERP gantry to its original position, LTA will also reinstate the ERP gantry located along the slip road off PIE (Tuas). This gantry was turned off in 2008 to facilitate construction of Woodsville Interchange, and when reinstated, will have the same prevailing ERP charges and operating hours as the existing PIE (Tuas) ERP gantry.
