The Land Transport Authority (LTA) awarded the contract for the widening of Telok Paku Road and Nicoll Drive to Downer EDI Works Pte Ltd.
The contract, worth S$9.41 million, involves the widening of Telok Paku Road and Nicoll Drive from an undivided dual one-lane carriageway to a dual two-lane carriageway, and the construction of a new vehicular bridge over Changi Creek. The stretch of Telok Paku Road, from the existing vehicular bridge to Nicoll Drive, will also be converted to a one-way road to serve park users.
The road widening project aims to cater to the increased traffic volume due to developments along Nicoll Drive, such as the Changi Cargo Complexes and Airport Logistics Park of Singapore.
Loyang and Changi Coast Road bound carriageway of the vehicular bridge was opened to traffic on 10 June 2008 and 8 July 08 respectively. The installation of the timber decking walkway along both side of the bridge and improvement works to Telok Paku Road and Changi Village Road junction is in progress. The project is expected to be completed in third quarter of 2008.
