To facilitate the construction of Bencoolen DTL3 station, the stretch of Bencoolen Street between Prinsep Link and Bras Basah Road will be closed to traffic for about two years from Sunday, 16 October 2011 to the fourth quarter of 2013.

Together with the closure, Waterloo Street will be converted to a one way road and new traffic lights will be installed at the junction of Waterloo Street and Bras Basah Road.

With the closure of two bus stops along Bencoolen Road, two new temporary bus stops will be provided along the lower stretch of Bencoolen Street (between Bras Basah Road and Orchard Road) and the other along Bras Basah Road. Two taxi stands along Bencoolen Road will also be relocated to Lorong Payah and Bencoolen Street before Prinsep Link.

Directional and information signs along the affected roads will be put up to inform and guide motorists.
