A newly-constructed vehicular interchange between the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) and Bedok North Avenue 3 was opened to traffic on 29 November 2008.
Works for this road interchange began in June 2006 and involved the construction of four slip roads to connect Bedok North Avenue 3 to the PIE. This also involved works to widen Bedok North Avenue 3 from two lanes to three lanes in both directions. The entire upgrading project was completed at a cost of $20.5 million.
Features
The completed road project includes these features:
- Four slip roads connecting PIE and Bedok North Avenue 3
- A dual three-lane Bedok North Avenue 3
- Two new pedestrian overhead bridges along Bedok North Avenue 3
- Ramps to the existing pedestrian overhead bridges across PIE
- Upgraded five bus shelters along Bedok North Avenue 3 and Bedok Reservoir Road
Benefits
With the opening of this vehicular interchange, motorists, especially residents in the Bedok North Estate, will be able to enjoy a direct and faster connection between Bedok North Avenue 3 and the PIE. The new interchange will also serve as an alternative to the two existing interchanges with the PIE at Bedok North and Simei.
