The Land Transport Authority has awarded a $22.68 million contract to Feng Ming Construction Pte Ltd for the widening of Jurong Gateway Road and the construction of a new road network in the Jurong Lake District.
The project involves:
- the widening of Jurong Gateway Road between Jurong East Central and Jurong East Street 12 from a dual two-lane carriageway to a dual three-lane carriageway;
- the extension of Jurong Gateway Road to Boon Lay Way and between Jurong East Street 21 and Toh Guan Road;
- the construction of a new dual three-lane carriageway (named Gateway Link) to connect Jurong Gateway Road to Jurong Town Hall Road; and
- the construction of a new dual two-lane carriageway (named Venture Avenue) to connect Jurong Gateway Road and Jurong East Street 11.
The project also involves the construction of two new covered pedestrian overhead bridges and covered linkways near Jurong East MRT Station and IMM Building. The pedestrian overhead bridge near Jurong East MRT Station will be linked to the station concourse.
The new and widened roads will help to meet the anticipated increase in traffic demand and provide new accessibilities for the developments in the district.
The road widening and new roads have been completed and opened to traffic. The new pedestrian overhead bridges near Jurong East MRT Station and IMM Building are also completed and opened for public use.
