"Curve Alignment Markers" were introduced in Singapore in 1999 along expressways. They are highly visible with a single black arrow on a retro-reflective yellow background.
They are generally installed along road bends to indicate to motorists that they are approaching bends. Hence, motorists should slow down before reaching the bends. The reflective material used helps motorists in their assessment of road alignment, particularly at night. Fixed spacing of curve alignment markers produces a smooth following pattern of delineation, which defines the curve, whereas varying spacing emphasises the degree of the curve. |
