Most motorists are familiar with the Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System, or EMAS, that uses strategically located cameras to detect unusual traffic conditions on the expressways.
Motorists are then given advance warning of adverse traffic conditions in the following ways:
Before entering the expressway:
- By electronic signboards near the entrances to the expressway
Along the expressway:
- By two types of electronic signboards along the expressway
- By radio announcements and TV broadcasts
