Intelligent Road Studs to be installed at 15 more junctions
Pedestrians and motorists gave their thumbs up to the pilot trial of Intelligent Road Studs at Toa Payoh. Following the success of the trial, you will find these safety devices permanently installed at 15 more locations by mid 2007.
Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) to be used for Zebra Crossing Beacons
Most of us are quite familiar with the use of LED for traffic lights. Now, the same technology will be used on zebra crossing beacons. LED lasts longer and requires replacement less frequently. This environmental-friendly change will help to reduce the unavailability of the beacons and enhance the safety of pedestrians. Plus, LTA will save an estimated $3m over 15 years in maintenance and operational costs.
