Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE)

The KPE is a 12-km expressway that stretches from the ECP to
the TPE. Phase 1 of the KPE, spanning three kilometres from the ECP at Fort Road to the PIE, will be opened to traffic on 26
October 2007. The rest of the KPE, up to TPE, will open in 2008.

With nine kilometres of the expressway constructed as an underground tunnel, the KPE will be the longest underground expressway in Southeast Asia once it is fully completed in 2008. Unlike an above-ground expressway, the consequences of a
major accident or incident in an underground tunnel are
potentially far more serious.

It is important for drivers to practise safe driving habits to ensure that everyone’s drive in the KPE is both smooth and safe.
