The KPE was opened to traffic on 20 September at 10am. The expressway serves the growing residential, commercial and industrial needs of the north-eastern corridor and is expected to reduce journey time in the northeast corridor by up to 25%. This benefits motorists travelling between the north-east sector and
the city, as well as improves connectivity between the ECP, PIE
and TPE.

The reduced weekday evening ERP rates at selected gantries in the CBD and along the Singapore River Line apply from Monday, 29 September 2008. Out of the six gantries planned for implementation in November 2008, only the gantry along PIE (westbound) near Eunos will be implemented as announced because traffic conditions there remain below the optimal speed threshold during the morning peak hours.

Five normal bus lanes were implemented at locations along Aljunied Road, New Changi Road, Upper Changi Road East, Simei Avenue and Tampines Avenue 5 on 22 September 2008.

Traffic Prediction Tool (TPT) is a technological tool currently used by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to anticipate and manage traffic flow so as to minimise traffic congestion.

These signs carry safe driving tips such as keep within the
speed limits, turn on headlights, and turn on radio, while driving
in the KPE tunnel. These signs will be displayed for a period of
six months, till March 2009.
